TRAVEL BACK IN TIME…… Looking for an interesting day trip? Why not join the Maytown Historical Society’s latest excursion! MHS is sponsoring a bus trip to Cairnwood Estate which is located 16 miles outside of Philadelphia on the Bryn Athyn College campus. Cairnwood Estate was built in 1895 by John Pitcairn, who was a cofounder of Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company. The estate was designed by Carrere and Hastings in the Beaux arts style. The meticulous decorative elements blend influences from classical Greek and Roman architecture with French Renaissance ideas. The home has been restored to its original 1895 appearance. This bus trip will not only include the Cairnwood Estate, but also tours of the Glencairn Museum, the Cairnwood Gardens, and the Bryn Athyn Cathedral. Lunch will be an Italian feast buffet at Maggio’s in Southampton. Cost for the day is $135 per person and that includes an Elite coach, all tour admissions, lunch buffet, and the bus driver’s tip. Bus leaves Maytown’s Fuhrman Park at 8:00 a.m. and returns at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
Call Janie Garber at 717-426-3689 or email at jgarber416@gmail.com for tickets. Last day to purchase tickets will be August 31, 2024. Reserve your seat today!
