Saturday, September 30th , Donegal Rotary will be presenting it’s 18th annual Pig Iron Fest at the Marietta Community Bible Church. The Fest highlights the history of Marietta’s role in the pig iron industry, creates a focal point for the community, and attracts a large crowd while generating funds for charitable causes. Funds raised benefit local fire companies, fire police, food banks, and the historic Marietta’s Vesta property needs. On Furnace Road in Marietta, Lenny Droege will be at the Vesta Building location offering tours, displays, plus sharing his wealth of knowledge pertaining to the pig iron industry.
This year we are including our 2nd Annual Dog Fest that was rained out in May. Created as a tribute to man’s best friend, every dog’s a winner! We will feature judging booths, vendors, and various K-9 demonstrations. This portion of the event benefits local rescue and K-9 organizations. We ask that all participants pre-register on our Donegal Rotary website. Bring your registration info the day of the show starting at 9:00 a.m.
For our car show we invite all makes and models, motorcycles, street rods, classic, and antique cars. All register the day of the show for $15. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m., trophies presented at 2:15. If you want to park as a specific group, please come in as a group. We also have two food trucks: Spud Muffin and Kurtz Concessions, Steve Bailey and his spectacular photo display, and our popular hayride. Tim Rinard will be providing musical entertainment all day. We ask that everyone bring an item or two for our local food bank.
Everyone enter the church from Anderson Ferry Road. Follow the signs marked spectator, car show vehicles, and dog show participants. Both shows start at 9:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. We hope to see you there and have a great time.
