Remember last year when everyone was isolated? Marietta Fireworks decided we were going to have our show since it was an outside event. We limited our advertising to avoid a huge crowd and canceled all plans involving War Memorial Park since it could result in a large crowd in a small space. This year is slightly different. We are doing our best to announce the event. Since activities need to be planned months in advance, we are once again canceling any activities at War Memorial.. But now the good news: The Marietta Fireworks show will go on as usual. The schedule is to begin the show at 9:15 or when conditions permit. Occasionally things don’t go as planned, Mother Nature has other ideas. Remember 2019 when it rained right before show time? If possible, follow us on Facebook for up to the minute information and possible “live stream.”
If you’re looking for something fun to do before the show, head to Community Bible Church and spend the afternoon. Activities commence at approximately 5:00. The list of activities include food trucks, a barrel train for the kids, various yard games and activities for the Family. Local favorite character juggler Chris Ivey is scheduled to perform at 7:00. Donations will be collected upon entering the parking lot. All proceeds go to Marietta Fireworks as the church graciously donates the use of their facility. A reminder the Fireworks show is funded entirely by donations and performed by volunteers, such has been the tradition since the late 1950’s.
If coming from out of town and visiting for the day, enjoy our many restaurants and pubs than stay for the show. Maybe come early to walk around town, rich with history, and admire the many homes with spectacular architecture, landscape and decorations. For the fitness oriented, bring your bike, or walk the Susquehanna River trail bordering the south side of town. If you’re wondering where to park for “in town” activities, War Memorial Park is available.
