For the first time in 55 years the Annual Candlelight Tour of Homes will be postponed due to the ongoing pandemic. Instead, the Candlelight Tour Committee is proposing the entire borough of Marietta participate in a town wide Candlelight Tour by asking YOU to decorate your home for the first Sunday in December. Replacing the house tour with a Drive Through/Walk Through town tour will continue Marietta’s tradition of initiating the holiday season for Lancaster County.
Whether you choose to put a candle in your window or a simple wreath upon your door, we are encouraging everyone to participate. We are suggesting not only traditional decorations, but perhaps a special emphasis on Patriotic, Red, White and Blue to honor our First Responders, Firefighters, the Military and all those who help keep us safe and make our town and country a great place to live. Our goal is to create a safe, visually exciting display of joy, unity, and optimism. Everyone that decorates the exterior of their homes will be given a commemorative one of a kind ribbon to display.
Ronn and John, our very own holiday decorating gurus, will again share their Christmassy seasonal tips, not in the Union Meeting House, as they practice social distancing, it will be shared via video on our website and Facebook pages. Always entertaining and informative, tune in for some fabulous decorating ideas.
The event will be publicized, inviting the public to drive through and to encourage walk through visitors to our town. Our goal is to have businesses and churches set up food and craft tents as well as special vendors to invoke a Christkindlmarkt setting in town.
