“Our Marietta” met on January 27th at the Marietta Community House. In its mission to improve lines of communication between various Marietta organizations, Councilmen Glen Mazis and Bill Dalzell were invited to present a “State of the Borough” report. This generated enthusiastic discussion. Plans for grants for park improvements will necessitate the formation of a Park Commission. Persons interested in serving should contact Council member Rebeca Carroll Baltozer. Updates on the new apartments on West Market, changes to zoning ordinances, and the addition of a high school student to serve as Junior Councilperson were a few of the topics discussed.
Community organization spokespersons announced several fun events in the works which are sure to be enjoyable for local folks, as well as out of town guests interested in checking out historic Marietta. The Community House is bringing back last year’s successful Children’s Fair on June 27 and the Garden Tour on June 7. Volunteers may contact Kathy Lehman. The Marietta Fireworks Celebration is being held on the 4th of July this year and will include even more music and activities than last year. Volunteers should contact Gary Schatz and visit the Marietta Fireworks Facebook page. Visit the Susquehanna Stage Compan website for information on shows, workshops, and classes being offered in 2020.
