A Message from the New President of Marietta Restoration Associates:

Seven years ago, I was lucky enough to have a friend encourage me to attend a Marietta Restoration Associates (MRA) event. At the event, I learned about MRA’s mission of preserving the historical and cultural traditions of our town through such projects as the Old Town Hall and Union Meeting House restoration and preservation. My wife, Rebecca, and I quickly became involved as members of MRA, working on MRA-sponsored ventures such as the annual auction and the Marietta Traveler. Through our participation with MRA, we’ve met lots of our fellow-Mariettians, many of whom are now among our closest friends.
At the most recent board meeting of the MRA, I was honored and privileged to be elected as the new president of the organization. Who would have guessed that seven years ago?!
I’m fortunate to have a talented and dedicated group of officers to work with on the MRA board. Vice President Vivian Carroll brings unparalleled experience and know-how to our group, as a former president herself. Treasurer Trisha Ries has basically been the de facto president of the MRA for the last few months, and I will rely on her organizational and planning skills while we work together, I’m sure. Secretary Carrie Kitchen, although fairly new to the MRA board, has already distinguished herself with her enthusiasm and dedication to our mission.
I know that I speak for the board when I say that one of goals for the upcoming months and years is to encourage more Mariettians to become members of MRA. I can tell you from experience that it’s incredibly rewarding to know that you’re doing work that makes our community a better place to live. Like I mentioned above, there is a social side to MRA membership- we’ve got a lot of wonderful people involved in the organization and working together on MRA projects is a great way to make new friends.
We welcome you to join us as a member of Marietta Restoration Associates. The projects you get involved with in MRA are entirely up to you, as is the amount of time that you volunteer. Whatever your skills and talents happen to be, we probably have the right role for you.

Looking forward to working with old friends and new!
