The Marietta Restoration Associates and The Boyles Family are working together to bring
Halloween BACK to Marietta!
Since he was a child, Willis Boyles has had a love for Halloween. His dreams of bringing his
favorite holiday back to Marietta became a reality when Willis and his family started a FREE
haunted house in their back yard. Their famous “Haunted Marietta” is a top notch Halloween
attraction, and the talk of the town during Halloween season.
This haunted house has been 100% supported by the Boyles family, and over the past three years
they have hosted over 1,000 guests to this spectacular event. Willis said to me “I want to bring
Halloween back to Marietta”. After thinking about this, it seemed natural to solicit the Marietta
Restoration Associates (MRA) board to host the haunt at the Union Meeting House (UMH). The
vote was a unanimous “YES”, and MRA will host the 2019 Haunted House.
When I called Willis to tell him the news, he was excited. We discussed his dream and how this
is step one of bringing Halloween Back to Marietta! Willis will be constructing his haunt in the
Union Meeting House during the months of September and October. This gives him the
opportunity to work indoors, create a unique layout, and expand his creativity for this exciting
event.
Every year Willis travels to a Halloween convention to learn about special effects and to
purchase the newest and coolest props. I look forward to seeing, with each of you, what
“Haunted Marietta” will look like in this new space for 2019. MRA is excited to be a part of this
new journey and to have people visit the UMH. With the help of MRA supporting this event,
people from all over will come to Marietta to enjoy this latest venture. Please share this with
your Halloween enthusiastic friends and family that there is no better place to come than
Marietta for a SCARY adventure! “Haunted Marietta” includes a less-scary daylight version for
smaller children that will run from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on the same dates.
While this event is free for all to attend, donations will be accepted and given back to the
Marietta Restoration Associates. The MRA has been preserving the cultural and architectural
heritage of Marietta since 1965. For more information about some of our other events and
projects you can visit our website at www.mariettarestoration.org
Willis plans to work with MRA over the next few years to expand “Haunted Marietta” and even
look into bringing back the Halloween parade and engaging the community. If you love
Halloween and want to help volunteer or support this event feel free to reach out to me at your
convenience: mrsbaltozer@gmail.com or 717-224-0170. Looking forward to seeing you all at
the Haunted House and being spooooked!
Sincerely,
