Family Fun and Fireworks Commemorate Marietta’s Independence Celebration – July 6

On Saturday, July 6th, big plans are in the works for Marietta to celebrate the Independence Day holiday with a focus on “all about the community.”  This year, the fireworks will be even more fantastic than last year and set to go off at the War Memorial Park at 9:15 p.m. In addition to the awe-inspiring fireworks, entertainment for the entire family is planned.  Be sure to save the date!

Once again, the fireworks display will feature a huge opening, a ground show, a memorial barrage (a mid-show rapid fire display) and a huge finale.  This year the opening will be offered in honor of Ben Thompson, a Marietta World War II veteran that passed away this past year.

A cornhole tournament will begin at 2:00 p.m.  Trophies will be awarded to the top three teams.  Registration begins at noon on the day of the tournament at a cost of $10/person.

A Kids Zone from 3Monkeys Inflatables will be on hand from 4:00 to 9:00 and include a bounce house, the “wacky world” obstacle course, and a 65 foot obstacle/slide challenge.  Wristbands can be purchased for $5 for the kids to enjoy these inflatables throughout the evening. At 7:00, Chris Ivey, a local well known artist that entertains with a unique blend of technical juggling excellence and theatrical flair, will take the stage.  Musical groups will entertain through the evening and local food trucks and novelty venders will be available. Smokey the Bear will even visit!

July 6 promises to be a special and entertaining day for our community.  Join in the Fourth of July celebration – bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a Marietta tradition at the War Memorial Park, E. Walnut Street.  Parking will be available on the baseball field.
