The Third Annual Chowderfest was
held at the Railroad House Inn and
Restaurant in Marietta, on Saturday
April 7th, with a record attendance of
nearly 400 guests. The annual event
was sponsored by Carriage House
Construction, Jeremy Ganse Remax, CGA
Law Firm, Hope for Healing Bemer USA,
the Red Roof Inn, and over a dozen area
restaurants providing their best soup,
chowder, or bisque. Their efforts and
support, combined with the staff of the
Railroad House and event organizers
Ed Lincoln, Jr. and Joey Bowden, netted
over $5000.00 for these non-profit
beneficiaries: The Pioneer Volunteer
Fire Company, the PSPCA, the
Marietta Market, and the Sebastian
Foundation dog rescue. The event
is designed to be a competition, with
the general public voting on their
favorite (Peoples’ Choice) as well as
a panel of Executive Chefs from the
surrounding area (Judges’ Pick). The
2018 top picks in each category are as
follows:
Peoples’ Choice Award:

2nd Place: Sven’s Sproutstream
All Corporate Sponsors chose their own
winners as well, with awards distributed
throughout the day.
The day was a perfect one. Even though
it was April, temperatures barely reached
40 degrees and the soup was definitely
welcome to warm the bones. Inside the
cellar bar, music filled the air with the
Towson Steele Duo and special guest
J.C. Fetlock. Caricature artist Louis Welsh
was in the Broadbeck room entertaining
youngsters of all ages, and the staff
kept everyone satisfied with food and
drink. Be sure to save the date Saturday,
September 29th for the “Marietta Mac-
down”, the First Annual Mac and Cheese
competition benefiting local charities.
