Fireworks Return with a Bang!

On June 30, 2018, bring your lawn chairs to the War Memorial Park and join in a tradition that has historically been a staple of Marietta’s July Fourth Celebration:Fireworks! This year, though, the patriotic celebration will be even bigger, with a cornhole tournament,vendors, and a stage show including tributes to military veterans, music, and vocal performances. Corinne Lillis from WGAL will emcee the stage celebration, scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. with the fireworks display to follow at 9:15 p.m.

The fireworks will be displayed under the supervision of GarySchatz, a trained fireworks pyrotechnician. The fireworks will feature a huge opening,a ground show, a memorial barrage (a mid-show rapid firedisplay) and a huge finale.

At 7:00 p.m., master of ceremonies Corinne Lillis will lead the tribute for military veterans and first responders. Veterans of the Korean, Vietnam,Iraq, and other wars will be commemorated by military speakers from the Navy Club of Lancaster Ship #166 –Chartered in 1940. During the presentation, the Susquehanna Stage Company and the Donegal Alumni Band will entertain the crowd with exciting and inspiring arrangements of patriotic music.

In the afternoon before the evening festivities, a cornhole tournament will begin at 2:00 p.m. Trophies will be awarded to the top three teams. Following the tournament, there will be a special raffle for the custom made cornhole boards. Teams can pre-register for the tournament for $20 by calling 717-426-3741 or by email to jimsargen@gmail.com. Registration on the day of the tournament starts at the War Memorial Park at 1:00 p.m.

During the afternoon and evening, food and novelty vendors will be at the park,including the Marietta Pioneer Fire Company, Boothie’s BBQ,Good Guys Chicken, Schnader’s Funnel Cakes, Schopf Brothers Lighted Novelties, Parma Pizza,Scoops Ice Cream, Tank’s Taters,Sam & Jo Gyros, and others.

The return of fireworks to Marietta promises to be a special and entertaining day. Join in the July Fourth celebration and enjoy a Marietta tradition at the War Memorial Park, East Walnut Street on June 30th. Rain Date is July 7th.
